Our teachers know their students and work with them to help them realise their potential as learners. Our focus on authentic learning and authentic assessment ensures that we challenge our students to grow in their learning and achieve their personal best.

Throughout our community of Sydney Catholic schools, we have shown high performance of our students in measures such as NAPLAN and the HSC.

St Raphael’s Catholic Primary School South Hurstville offers a Newman Selective Gifted Education Program and a range of co-curricular programs such as: debating, school band, chess, violin, art, drama and various sporting programs including inter-school sport events. A pathway exists for our talented sport students  and and our talented creative and performing arts students regularly access the Catholic Schools Performing Arts (CaSPA) program and various art competitions.

Students participate in several academic competitions such as the International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) in areas such as English, Mathematics and Science.

The school achieves pleasing NAPLAN results each year. These excellent results are an indication of the hard work of both teachers and students, and reflect a strategic approach towards addressing the learning needs of our students. English and Mathematics remain priority areas and staff have engaged in regular quality professional development based on current research to develop their pedagogical practices.

A quick snapshot: our recent overall performance of Year 3 and Year 5 students was significantly above state and national mean scores in all areas.
