Our library provides a social space to meet, collaborate, research, learn, share, and relax. The staff work to develop a reading culture and raise the levels of information literacy across the school by leading students through processes which empower them to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers and skillful, efficient and discerning researchers.

The Oliver library management system, together with the ACEN digital library provide 24/7 access to a wealth of authentic, authoritative, age appropriate resources to specifically meet student and staff needs.

Each year across Australia, the Children’s Book Council of Australia brings children and books together celebrating Children’s Book Week. During this time, schools, libraries, booksellers, authors, illustrators and children celebrate Australian Literature. St Raphael’s Catholic Primary School South Hurstville is regularly involved in this initiative.

In addition, all students in the school are invited to be involved in Premier’s Reading Challenge; this challenge encourages a love of reading and enables students to experience quality literature.

The library is open at lunchtime on Tuesday and Wednesday.
